We are thrilled to share the incredible achievements of our 8-year-old chess talent, Marius Constante, who continues to make waves in the Philippine chess scene with a series of impressive performances at both national and local tournaments.
This year, Marius secured his first national championship title at the prestigious Philippine Children’s Chess Championship 2025 held in Cebu. It was only his second time participating in a national event — the first being the 2023 National Age Group, where he placed 7th in the U10 category at just 5 years old.
In the 2025 championship, Marius showcased his brilliance across three formats:
Marius’ outstanding performance also earned him a feature in the Manila Standard, celebrating his success at the Cebu event.
On June 28-29, 2025, Marius took on an ambitious challenge by competing in two separate chess tournaments in a single weekend.
Despite being the youngest participant in the division, Marius held his own against older players and helped his team bring home the championship.
Earlier in his chess journey, Marius set national records by becoming the youngest Filipino player to obtain a FIDE rating in both Rapid and Standard formats. He earned his Rapid Rating at just 6 years old, and his Standard Rating at 6 years and 4 months. Due to limited participation in Blitz events, he secured his Blitz Rating later, at 7 years and 5 months.
Marius' remarkable potential has been demonstrated through notable performances: defeating Women National Masters in Standard format, winning against an International Master in Rapid, and securing a draw against a Russian Grandmaster in an online match.
Your dedication and discipline at such a young age are truly inspiring. We’re excited to see where your journey takes you next.
Marius began studying advance math and piano at the age of 4, and chess at 5. Discover more about his journey.
